Interview with… Take Cover Skin System

Recently I (Natasha) spoke with Gerri Facey from the ‘Take Cover Skin Care System’ company who was exhibiting at the The London UK Wedding Show, and asked her if she would share with the readers of the Bride of Colour Blog a little more about the system.

1. Hi Gerri, welcome to the Bride of Colour Blog! Could you tell us what exactly is the ‘Take Cover Skin Care System’ and what does it do?
This is a service that provides coverage for scarring skin conditions and blemishes on the skin, such as vitiligo, rosacea, spider veins, acne scarring, pigmentation, sun spots, scars from accidents and tattoos etc.

2. How did you get inspired to market this product?
The inspiration came about before I knew the product ever existed.  If it did not exist I was prepared to invent it myself.  The reason for this was my pain of living with a rare skin condition called Icthyosis.

3.  Why is this product useful for brides of colour?
This product is great for brides, as like everyone, if they have a skin condition or blemish they wish to have covered, it is a great way of forgetting these things without it ruining their white dress or their confidence.  It is also great for covering your tattoos,  if you don’t wish to have them on show on your big day.

4. How effective will it be on black people’s oily skin?
As the product is alcohol based, this in some ways is quite beneficial.  The clients that have naturally oily skin have reported no problems regarding this, and has lasted up to 5 days on specific  parts of the body.

5.  How long does the product stay on?
On the body it has been recorded many times to have remained on the body for up to 5 days.  On the face, even though it can be prepared to stay on the face for the duration of a day or so, it is advisable to remove this at the end of the day.

6.  Would it be suitable for use in weddings taking place in a hot country outside of the UK for example?
It is regularly used abroad in the sunnier climates, as it is sweatproof and waterproof, so this would be okay.

7. How easy is it to apply yourself?
To apply to the face, neck, décolleté, stomach and arms would of course be no problem.  The problem arises when you wish to apply to your back or the legs, as this will require an even build up and a good eye.

8.  How can a bride get hold of the product?
The bride has a special package whereby they will initially come to The Hale Clinic for a  colour match consultation and trial application.  For their wedding day, they can have a Take Cover Technician come to them to  apply their coverage on the day to ensure perfection.
