We love: Juliet’s House

Say ‘I do’ in Juliet’s house with Best Wedding Away

Bedtime stories such as Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, have inspired girls to dream about that day when they will be the princess of their own fairytale. Now you can walk in the footsteps of Shakespeare’s heroine, Juliet. In fact, the province of Verona in Italy has gone all out, to make any bride getting married in Verona, feel like she is in her very own fairytale, with the opportunity to say ‘I do’ in Juliet’s house.

As couples enter the courtyard of Juliet’s house they pass through an entrance with love notes stuck to the wall and behind them are scribbles of love. Walking through the courtyard and into the house, couples walk up the stairs to the second floor. Two important medieval influenced chairs stand facing the guests, and behind them a fireplace.

After the vows have been exchanged the wedding photography opportunities are endless. Looking down from the balcony into the courtyard below, various locations within Juliet’s house, and for those who don’t mind a short walk, couples can head over to Juliet’s tomb for a more intriguing backdrop to the wedding album.

Couples choosing an evening wedding can have aperitifs in the courtyard once it has been closed to the public. There is also the opportunity to dine on the terrace in privileged privacy, looking over the courtyard and also across at Juliet’s balcony.

Roberto Benetello, director of Bestweddingaway, says, “The opportunity that Verona council have given to overseas brides and grooms to marry in such a magical location is fantastic. We’re really happy to be able to offer this wedding location to brides-to-be. When brides return home and show the photos to work colleagues and guests that could not make it to the wedding, they are in complete awe of the setting.”

Not only is this backdrop, a fairytale scene with a legend to accompany it, but also it was used as one of the sets for the film, Letters to Juliet, which was a cinema hit in 2010. The film was about a girl who meets a group of volunteers who reply to letters written to Juliet, based on the real life group of volunteers called ‘Juliet’s club’ who respond to these letters with hope and advice. Juliet has been receiving letters since World War II, mainly from women asking for her counsel with matters of the heart.

So if you can imagine yourself exchanging vows surrounded by the legend of Juliet, get in touch with Bestweddingaway to discuss your Italian wedding requirements.
